Feeding and Outreach Program for the Marikina Flood Victims
After two weeks of heavy rainfall in the metropolis and other parts of Luzon water levels in several dams and rivers has increased, causing flooding and the evacuation of thousands of residents in low-lying areas in Quezon City, Marikina City, and Rizal and Iloilo provinces.
After two weeks of heavy rainfall in the metropolis and other parts of Luzon water levels in several dams and rivers has increased, causing flooding and the evacuation of thousands of residents in low-lying areas in Quezon City, Marikina City, and Rizal and Iloilo provinces.
Rising water at the Marikina River and spawned by La Mesa Dam spilling level prompted the evacuation of 800 families in Quezon City. Forced evacuation was implemented after the water level in the Marikina River rose to more than 20 meters.
On August 11, 2012, the Travellers Insurance & Surety Corportation together with Conpac Warehousing Incorporated and Asiapac shared their blessings to the unfortunate victims of Purok 6, Malanday Marikina City. The outreach and feeding program was led by their VP/Treasurer Ms. Dolores G. Fernandez brought with them freshly cooked meals and refreshments. After which entrust the distribution of clothing commodities to the Purok 6 volunteers led by Ms. Supleo.
