The beginning of a new school year is a little like Christmas, for the most part, the kids are excited and everything is shiny and new. For these kids, school is often the only constant in their lives. For some families though, there just isn’t enough money in the budget to buy them, essential or not.

Students who are ill prepared don’t hold out much hope for a promising school year, lacking confidence and self-esteem because they don’t have as much as other, more fortunate children. But, as during traditional holidays, back-to-school can be a great time to give back.

It’s an annual labour of love, bringing together volunteers and local businesses to help students living on the streets, in shelters and temporary housing to experience this one of a kind bond. Help struggling parents cope with one of the most expensive responsibilities they face every school year.

The Travellers Insurance Surety Corporation, which serves as the primary charitable giving arm of “The Ready Set Go Project”, knows that “back to school” means something truly challenging for the children’s who live in poverty in the Philippines.

Since 2016, Travellers Insurance Surety Corporation has been helping students from needy families living in poverty with backpacks & school supplies through our “Ready Set GO Project” dedicated to provide 300 packs of school supplies with the tools necessary to be successful in the classroom.

“By placing backpacks containing essential school supplies into the hands of children, we are giving them important tools they need to start school with confidence and to succeed throughout the year,” says Vice President Maybelle Lim.
